About Turning Point

Welcome to Turning Point

At Turning Point, we believe every student deserves a fresh start. Our alternative program offers individualized instruction and emphasizes personal responsibility, helping students take ownership of their learning and choices. While our alternative approach may not be for everyone, success here requires regular attendance and consistent parent involvement. With structured support, students can thrive in a safe and welcoming environment that encourages growth and independence.

This is your opportunity to reset, refocus, and build a future that provides an exciting path for the journey ahead.

A Message from Principal Kevin Ryan

Welcome to Turning Point (Lewis County Alternative School),

At Turning Point, we believe every student deserves a fresh start and a pathway tailored to their unique strengths, needs, and aspirations. Our alternative school community is built on the foundation of individualized instruction, where learning is personalized so that each student can move at the pace and in the style that best supports their growth.

We also value personal and independent discipline—helping students take ownership of their choices, develop self-direction, and build the resilience needed for lifelong success. Here, education is not one-size-fits-all; it is a journey designed to meet you where you are and guide you toward where you want to be.

While this program may not be the right fit for everyone, success in our alternative format requires a strong partnership. Parent involvement and regular attendance are essential to ensuring that students receive the consistent support and accountability needed to achieve their goals.

We are proud to provide a safe, supportive environment where students can reset, refocus, and reimagine their future. Together, we foster respect, responsibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.  Our staff is committed to making every student successful in their educational path.

This is your new start—an opportunity to thrive, learn, and discover the best version of yourself. Welcome to Turning Point, where every step forward matters toward preparing our students for the journey ahead

Good to Know

At Turning Point, we typically serve Chehalis School District students, at the eleventh grade level and up. Our students need to be referred to Turning Point by another Chehalis School District school or they must be court ordered to attend by a referring juvenile court or probation officer.

Turning Point offers a smaller, quieter environment than a traditional high school. The majority of classwork is done online and course options. We don’t offer sports or music programs and our selection of courses and electives are smaller than traditional high school. We provide students with an alternative learning environment that recognizes that they are unique individuals with varied circumstances and needs that may not be met in a traditional school setting; and provides a supportive, caring environment where students can thrive, succeed, and graduate from high school.
